Last weekend Baltimore hosted its inaugural Grand Prix featuring an ALMS race on Saturday. Despite drawing much criticism about the feasibility of hosting such an event in downtown Baltimore, it was a tremendous success with over 45,000 spectators on Saturday and 75,000 on Sunday for the Indy race. Hats off to the organizers for putting on such a great spectacle. The layout of the circuit within Baltimore's inner harbor district was perfect.
The pictures on TV were stunning, and the incorporation of the iconic Camden Yards into the pit complex and subsequent turns was a stroke of genius. Growing up in this region I went to many ball games at Camden Yards making it a special experience to watch a sporting event of a different kind on the same grounds. I haven never been to the long beach Grand Prix but from what I saw, I would say that this event was easily on par with that circuit. I went with general admission tickets and managed to find some great spots to shoot.
